Saturday night I was fortunate enough to host John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band at the Surflight Theater in Beach Haven.   As I watched the great performance they put on reliving the hits from the ‘Eddie and the Cruisers” movie as well as many of their other songs, I remembered how great many of those 80’s bands were live. Some of them, like Loverboy and the Tubes actually made it to the big time because of how well they performed in concert.

The 80’s were a generation of parties and fun and it was reflected not only in lyrics like “Come on Feel the Noise” or "Workin' for the Weekend” but in the way they were performed on stage. In the 80’s Bruce toured "the River," became more commercial than ever before on Born in the USA, entered holding flowers on Tunnel of Love, then fired the band and performed with Sting and Peter Gabriel in the Amnesty International Human Rights tour. Some of the biggest ever concerts took place in the 80’s like the Amnesty International concert at the Meadowlands in June of 86, and of course the granddaddy of all concerts “Live Aid on July 13, 1985.
