There has always been a constant in New Jersey: traffic. It's hard to believe how people got around pre-GSP.

I found this really cool vintage video from 1952 that was released by the New Jersey Highway Authority touting the benefits of "Your Garden State Parkway."

Pamphlets were passed around in the early '50s urging residents to vote 'yes' to construct the Garden State Parkway. Here's one of them.

"Spend your time at the beach ... not in bumper-to-bumper traffic" was the big sell by the New Jersey Highway Authority.

This video is from 1952 and gives you a glimpse at the beginning of the Garden State Parkway.
