On Wednesday, my wife took our 9 1/2 month old boy to meet Mickey Mouse.

No not in Disney World. At a restaurant in Englishtown.

There was a special event, a "Dinner with Mickey," where parents bring their kids for dinner while a little cosplay goes on. Someone dresses in a full Minnie Mouse costume (opening act) and walks around and silently greets them table by table for photo-ops. Then it's the headliner, Mickey.

It turns out the person playing Mickey was apparently a guy about 6 feet and 3 inches tall, because with the full head on, this menacing mouse was well in excess of 7 feet, according to my wife.

In other words, she never got a pic of Atticus with Mickey. She was too busy trying to keep him from crying. He was wide-eyed and unsure and would turn away the moment Mickey came near. And my wife's friend's 18-month-old girl who came to meet Mickey was equally creeped out.

You never know with kids. I remember my daughter's fourth birthday party. I held it at a Chuck E. Cheese and about 15 of her preschool friends came. Mina and one friend were the only ones who were okay when Chuck tried coming to the table. The other 14 ALL freaked out. I don't know if it was more sad or funny seeing almost an entire party of 4-year -olds screaming, crying, and dodging for cover into their mother's arms.

When I was a kid I was told I freaked out about Bozo The Clown curtains my mom put on my windows. Looking at old pictures my guess is because the lay of the curtains made it appear this freakish red haired clown was staring in from the edge of the window.

What about your own kids? What silly things were they afraid of? Answer our question @NJ1015 on Twitter or in the comment section.
