Numerous residents in Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties called police to report an earthquake around 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon and a second shake 15 minutes later.

“Felt it twice thought my windows were going to come crashing in,” posted a North Wildwood resident wrote on the Wildwood Leader’s Facebook page. Others report it sounded like a large truck was passing through.

However, there is no explanation for what caused the tremor according to WMGM TV.

The United States Geological Survey website shows no seismic activity in New Jersey or most of the United State in the past seven days. The 177th Fighter Wing in Egg Harbor Township and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst tell WMGM TV that none of their aircraft were in the area on Tuesday afternoon.
