Salvador Storch was convicted in May on three counts of second-degree sexual assault by sexual contact and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Essex County prosecutors say the 49-year-old West Orange man abused the girl beginning when she was 11 until she was 13. The abuse was uncovered after the girl stopped attending school regularly.

During his trial, Storch claimed he was drunk during the assaults and lacked mental capacity to have the required criminal intent.

Under New Jersey's No Early Release Act, Storch is required to serve 85 percent of his sentence.
