West Nile Virus Found In More Ocean County Birds
Three more dead birds infected with West Nile Virus are found in Ocean County, bringing this summer’s total to four.
Two birds were found in Bayville and one in Toms River, along with them four mosquitoes were found nearby that tested positive for the virus.
The Ocean County Mosquito Commission is saying they will increase surveillance of mosquito activities and canvass neighborhoods to increase awareness.
In the 2011 summer season, the commission found 10 birds and 10 mosquitoes tested positive for the virus.

Officials are asking residents to clean containers that hold water around the yard- buckets, bird baths, tires, pool covers, wading pools, gutters.
The house mosquito needs permanent, standing water to multiply.
