It's been a whirlwind 10 days for the Philadelphia Flyers and their fans, and all the drama and emotion built up in that timeframe seemed to come to a head Monday night at Wells Fargo Center, during a 6-1 loss in the team's first-round playoff series against the Washington Capitals.

Following a hit on Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov that resulted in the Flyers' Pierre-Edouard Bellemare being thrown out of the game, igniting a fight between the two teams, USA Today reported fans in the stands began throwing glowing wristbands — which had been offered as pregame giveaways — onto the ice. Washington led by a score of 4-1 at the time, more than halfway through the third period.

As heard on several fan videos posted to YouTube, veteran Flyers public address announcer Lou Nolan quickly tried to get out in front of the situation.

"OK, ladies and gentlemen, hold those wristbands in your hands," Nolan can be heard saying in the video above. "Show some class here. This is Philly, this is not somewhere else in the NHL. Hold them; put them on your wrists, where they're supposed to be. Do not throw them on the ice. Have some class."

One fan, near the location where this particular video was taken, then responded, "You're like 10 minutes too late, Lou!" Others yelled retorts like, "Yeah, sure, why not?" and even a simple "No!"

As the demonstration continued, referees assessed a penalty to the Flyers as team staffers took to the ice to clean up the mess.

That was when Nolan decided he'd had enough.

"OK, those of you that have been throwing (the bracelets), you've done it now," Nolan is heard saying in this subsequent clip. "Two-minute bench minor on the Flyers for delay of the game...Way to go!"

The fan outburst capped an emotional week and a half for Philadelphia, which clinched a playoff spot in the second-to-last game of the regular season on April 9, then two days later learned of the death of team founder Ed Snider, who was honored before Monday night's game.

The Flyers now trail three games to none in the series; Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

There are no giveaways currently listed on the Flyers' website for Wednesday's game.
