Police in Monroe Township are searching for a guy who had a clever way of stealing $24,000 worth of iPhones from a Walmart. He walked into the store and first went to a luggage section and grabbed one of those roller bags. Then he waited for a sales counter to be unoccupied (this was 1 a.m. by the way) and broke the glass to grab 32 iPhones and quickly stashed them inside the small suitcase.

Next he strolls to the U-Scan and pays only for the roller bag. You can check out that part in the video below.

What I don't understand is how does the U-Scan let him complete his transaction without putting the suit case up on the scale? My understanding was the scale measures the weight of every item in the store and matches it through encoding within the barcode so that you don't walk off with anything. This guy doesn't even place the suitcase up on anything. Am I wrong about this? Or is this scale thing only in grocery stores?

Nonetheless, he got away with it. However if you know anything and would like to see him not get away with it, the police would like to hear from you at their anonymous tip line at 856‐875‐2940.
