Richard Marx is coming to the World Café in Philadelphia on October 19th with his first studio album in10 years.

Marx says that the song that the album was named after, 'Beautiful Goodbye,' is “really a song I hope people will put on to get busy to.” This album tells stories about seduction and the dance between two people when you’re circling each other. Marx also said: "I haven’t heard an album from anyone in a long time that I felt was designed for sex and consistently throughout.”

In my interview with Marx, he also spoke about writing and touring with Ringo Starr, and the friendship he still maintains with the ex-Beatle. In fact, Marx has been fortunate enough to work and befriend most of the people he has admired in music. Some of those stars include: Barbara Streisand, Keith Urban, Hugh Jackman, and Fee Waybill who’s the godfather to one of his children. Marx won a grammy in 2014 for Song of the Year with the late, great Luther Vandross, for 'Dance With My Father.' Richard Marx was "discovered" by Lionel Richie. Richie heard one of Marx's demo tapes that was floating around LA and called him in Chi-town, and suggested he finally move to LA.

Richard also discusses meeting Davy Jones of the Monkees, who was one of his idols as a kid. Marx was a big Monkees fan, and since his dad, who was in the biz, arranged for Richard to meet Davy when the Monkees were in Chicago.

If you buy the CD, I hope it brings you what Richard intended it to. If you’d like to see Richard Marx at the World Café on October 19th, you can click here to buy tickets.
