Police in two South Jersey communities are investigating two attempted child lurings in the same day — and believe the same person may be responsible for both.

Oaklyn police said a white man in his 60s, driving a dark sedan or SUV, approached three children walking along Manor Avenue and offered them candy to get in the car around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 16. The kids refused and the vehicle took off. A white female passenger had been in the vehicle, police said.

Evesham police reported a similar incident a half-hour later on Peter Hurd in the Sanctuary Development. One of the boys pretended to call police and the car took off, police said.

It would take about 30 minutes to drive from Oaklyn to Evesham, a distance of 15 miles.

The man described in both cases was older with white or grey hair. The female in Evesham was described as being in her teens with long blonde hair.

Anyone with information about the suspects should call Oaklyn Police at 856-854-0049 or Evesham police at 856-983-1116.
