Video by a West Milford firefighter shows a dramatic rescue of one very lucky K9.

According to a report by ABC New York, the West Milford Fire Department was called to Lindy's Lake just after 8 a.m. Friday, when a 6-month-old German Shepard fell through the thin lake's thin ice.

Firefighters made their way through the ice until they got to the dog, about 75 yards from the shore, the report says. But when Deputy Chief Darren Williams and Captain Jeff Boltzer reached the the frightened dog, it attacked them, as seen in the video.

The firefighters persisted, eventually getting the dog out of the shivering water, where it was reunited with its owner.

The video was captured by fire department member John Franzino and posted to his YouTube channel.
