WATCH: NJ cop nearly struck as hit-run driver plows into his car door

LINWOOD — Police in this Atlantic County city are asking the public for help identifying a hit-and-run driver who damaged a police car and nearly struck a police officer Wednesday night.

The impact was caught on video thanks to the officer's body camera. You can watch the clip above.

The officer had pulled over about 8:48 p.m. behind a disabled vehicle on New Road near Seaview Avenue.

The car heading north sideswiped the police cruiser just as the officer was getting out of his car.

The speeding car was described as a silver or gray Nissan Altima, but it could have been some other similar looking car, police said.
