A historic church in West Orange was destroyed by a massive fire that broke out early Friday morning, according to reports.

The three-alarm blaze began at the Inglesia De Dios Pentecostal Church on Main Street at around 5:00 a.m. New Year’s morning, according to ABC7 News. The 200-year-old church, formerly St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, was a historic landmark that dates back to 1827, according to Preservation New Jersey.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the blaze.

“We’ve had some verbal reports from citizens that the gas meter may have been removed,” fire officials can be heard saying in this YouTube video, posted by Jeff Stang. Another voice of a firefighter at the scene stated that there was evidence of a gas fire in the roofline.

WPIX News reported that the fire is under investigation.

"An early-morning fire has destroyed the former St. Mark's Episcopal Church in West Orange,“ the Episcopal Diocese of Newark said in a written statement. "We pray for all who have been affected by this tragic incident.”
