If you've never gotten up early to watch the sunrise over the ocean at the Jersey Shore, you're missing out on one of the best ways to enjoy the Garden State.

As many people across the country prepare to see the sun fade during Monday's eclipse, the Asbury Park beach was dotted with sungazers on Sunday morning, silently watching those first rays of light peek out from behind the Atlantic Ocean.

While afternoons and evenings on the Asbury Park boardwalk — where NJ 101.5's Craig Allen played New Jersey's favorite summer hits Saturday — tend to feature more of an excited buzz of people seeking food and entertainment, the vibe is much different just before dawn.

So stop what you're doing, take a deep breath and enjoy the sound of the waves crashing as sunlight washes over the beach.
