A New Jersey supermarket has recalled its own brand of frozen corn because of concern over listeria contamination.

Stop & Shop supermarkets recalled its 16-ounce package of Stop & Shop brand Frozen Whole Kernel Sweet Corn with the UPC code of 68826700676, with a "best by date" of October 2019.

The same product was sold with as the house brand of Giant and Martin's supermarkets in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. The UPC code is the same.

Customers should discard any unused product and bring their receipts to stores for full refunds.

The supermarket chain said there have not been any listeria cases reported to it.

Symptoms of listeria include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. It can also cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy.

Stop & Shop has 172 locations in New Jersey.
