Perhaps what we’re seeing now is the unmasking of Governor Christie.

The man who had all his children vaccinated – yet walks a fine line between mandatory vaccinations and parental choice.

The man who said the Dream Act would be cost prohibitive in 2011, only to reverse course just prior to the 2013 election in order to cull favor with a group of Latino businessmen and to shore up a possible Latino voting block.

The man who vetoed the ban on the use of pig gestation crates here in New Jersey (where they’re not even used by pig farmers – whose number is relatively small) mainly to cull favor with the vast number of pig farmers in Iowa – again, to cull favor with an important voting block.

The man who promises he’ll be here for the next State of the State address, when it’s practically impossible to pin him down in the halls of the Statehouse – what with his out-of-town schedule being as full as it is.

Fear not – he’s always a phone call away from a job he says is the one he absolutely loves doing!

Now maybe I’m making a mountain out of a molehill – since this is pretty much standard operating procedure for politicians – but is this the same guy we elected to govern as a “one termer” back in 2009?

Methinks not.

For many of us, he’s turned out to be a disappointment.

Unemployment in the region is still the highest as compared to that of our neighboring states.

The property tax cap of 2% is in place; but if you were to ask the average Jersey homeowner whether or not their property taxes came down, they’d probably answer in the negative.

The vaunted “Jersey Comeback” may have been great for the Seaside boardwalk – but has been anything but for a number of shore residents.

Just ask local activist Jim Keady, who demanded to know why the Governor hadn’t disbursed the bulk of the money earmarked for Sandy victims.

And the answer he got in return was what many observes call Christie’s “blunt – tell it like it is – style.”

“Sit down and shut up!”

While this may go over with those of us thick-skinned enough to take it; you wonder how this will play out in Peoria?

Judging by the recent polls - it may not even be going over all that well in Plainsboro!
