Just when you think the New York Giants couldn’t sink any lower after losing 6 straight games, they find another layer of bedrock to penetrate in with their latest 25-24 loss to Jacksonville.

Former Giant Shaun O'Hara put it best in the post game show when he said “If I were John Mara I wouldn’t even let them on the bus.” If the Giants had their own reality show, it would be called “Harsh Reality.”

Some say the Giants find new ways to lose week after week and they may be right. For me, the one way they keep losing this last month has been their inability to defend the “read option” where the quarterback fakes to the running back going into the line, then goes around end forever.

It happened in Seattle, where they kept their fans sleepless for days after blowing a 17-14 lead in the 4th quarter and giving up 350 yards of rushing. It happened against San Francisco. It wasn't so much of a problem against Dallas, because when you’re giving Tony Romo up to 9 seconds to throw the ball, he’s not inclined to pull it down and run with a bad back.

It happened again on Sunday in the second half, specifically, in the 4th quarter. Jaguar quarterback Blake Bortles got his team within range for the field goal that proved to be the game winner.

So what’s a team to do after losing 7 straight games for a 3-9 record? By the way, this is the first time the Giants have had back to back losing seasons since 2003-04. (It was after the 2003 season that they fired Head coach Jim Fassel and quarterback Kerry Collins and brought in Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning.)

There are those that say Coughlin can no longer coach this team. I say Vince Lombardi couldn’t coach this team. The rag tag players put together by General Manager Jerry Reese is a joke. The Giants lead the league with 14 players in injured reserve. Some of those who are starting were only signed weeks ago, others shouldn’t even be in the league.

One good thing about this horrendous year, is that it could bring change. Many players, including Antrel Rolle, Jason Pierre Paul, Walter Thurmod and Prince Amukamara, are all free agents.

But the biggest question is what should be done with head coach Tom Coughlin. This is a man hand picked by the late Giants owner Wellington Mara. He led the Giants to two Super Bowl wins in 5 years. This is a coach who will probably go to the Hall of Fame. Is this a coach you would fire? If he were to be fired, who would you like to see replace Tom Coughlin?
