VOTE: Should a teacher ever be able to hit a student?

Should a teacher ever be able to raise their hand to a child, even under the most extreme circumstances?

A first grade teacher is suspended after she reportedly stuck a student in her class with a ruler according to Channel 7 News NY. This details are still being sorted out in that case but with so many strict laws protecting students and schools so afraid of lawsuits, would there ever be a situation where it would be ok to hit a kid in class?

Do you think any under circumstances it would be ok for a teacher to hit yoru child in class, no matter what the child does?
