VOTE: Are parents overreacting to ‘phallic’ Play-Doh toy?
When I first saw this, I didn't think much of it.
But I wonder whether parents are making too much of a fuss over Play Doh's newest toy.
A cake maker with some kind of applicator that resembles a penis.
Actually it does resemble male genitalia.
Part of the Hasbro Play-Doh Cake Mountain – I could only imagine what it's used for.
But then again, I'm weirded out by the thought of it – and one has to wonder what the toymaker was thinking.
Was it some kind of a joke – or did the toymaker think it was benign.
A toy that just happens to look like a penis.
Since then, Hasbro has augmented the toy, which is still sold on their website, sans the penis-looking extruder.
See, I can't help but feel that by making a big deal out of it; you're only making things worse.
I know kids are "hipper" today; but would you swipe the "extruder" out of the hands of your child and throw it in the trash - telling your child, "…..no, it's dirty!"
“We have heard some consumer feedback about the extruder tool in the Play-Doh Cake Mountain playset and are in the process of updating all future Play-Doh products with a different tool. Should any consumer want a replacement extruder for this item, they can contact Hasbro’s Customer Service Department at 800-327-8264.”
