Every now and then I’ll run something by my daughter who’s been in the record business since she graduated college.

She’ll do her best to help aspiring artists get producers to remix their projects.

She’d done that with Jersey bred Antonella Barba – a former contestant on American Idol - hooking up her manager with a Michael Gloria, a local producer from Staten Island – to remix her club hit “Jersey Girl.”

With that in mind, I let her hear this track, called “Kiss Me I’m a DJ!”

She likes it, and gave it about 4 stars – saying it’s very West Coast.

In fact, she called it without even knowing them because the duo, rhymer Jonny Gorenc and guitarist Donrique Sammak, live in Los Angeles and work as professional musicians under the name The Pilot Kids.

They were signed by Chris "Tricky" Stewart, whose credits include Pink, Rihanna, Britney Spears and Celine Dion, to his label in late 2013 which is when they moved to California and released their debut EP, "Open Fire," in the fall.

And since they are “West Coast,” their sound is quite different than anything that’s come out of Jersey.
(Think Naughty by Nature, Queen Latifah, or Lauren Hill.)

So, if you’re on the panel of “American Idol,” what would you say?
