Wrestling – Mike Oxley, Sr., 195 pounds, Christian Brothers Academy

Oxley won a 3-1 overtime thriller against Keansburg’s Tyree Sutton in a showdown between two of the top 10 wrestlers in the state at 195 pounds to win the District 22 title. It is Oxley’s second district title in his career, and it helped CBA win its first district team title in 46 years.

Girls basketball – Melissa Heath, Jr., F/C, Northern Highlands

Heath had 13 points and 5 blocks to lead Northern Highlands to a 57-44 win over Teaneck that gave the Highlanders their first Bergen County Tournament title in program history. Heath had three of her five blocks in the fourth quarter and also had a 3-point play to jumpstart a decisive 13-1 run to end the game.

Girls swimming – Jess Ambrose, Jr., Hunterdon Central

Ambrose won the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.31) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.71) to help Hunterdon Central beat Montgomery 101-69 to capture the Public A title for its first overall state championship in school history.

Ice hockey – Griffin Welch, Jr., F, Don Bosco Prep

Welch scored an unassisted goal 2:09 into the overtime period to give Don Bosco Prep a 3-2 win over No. 1 Delbarton in a showdown between the state’s top two teams in the Gordon Cup championship game. Welch also had an assist in the win.

Girls indoor track – Julia Guerra, So., Indian Hills

Guerra won the Group II 1,600-meter race in a meet record of 4:54.63, the second-fastest time in New Jersey this season, and also won the 3,200-meter title in 11:03.29 at the NJSIAA Groups II and III championships at the Bennett Center in Toms River.
