The New Jersey cemetery where Whitney Houston is buried has had to close its gates to the public after too many fans have tried visiting her grave.

Whitney Houston was buried Sunday next to her father at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Westfield police Capt. Cliff Auchter tells the Star-Ledger of Newark that a sudden increase in visitors Monday afternoon caused gridlock along the cemetery's narrow lanes.

Police say more than 100 cars clogged the roadways. Family members of the late singer who tried to visit her grave asked cemetery officials to control the number of visitors. Police started restricting access to the cemetery Monday afternoon, allowing only those with relatives buried there to enter.

Houston was laid to rest Sunday, a day after a star-studded funeral in Newark.
