Lowery is being remembered for his love of baseball and his friendly nature. "He was always the one running around in lunch, going around to everybody's table," Ananda Loatman, a sophomore at Vineland High School told the South Jersey Times.

His nickname was "Fancy Feet. “Every time he got on base, you knew he was going to score,” baseball coach Joey Rodriguez shared with the Daily Journal. He also played basketball and football.

A Twitter hashtag, #1LoveJermireLowery, is full of remembrances and comments about Lowery. "Jermire Making home runs in the clouds," tweeted @_chuuchii. "Life is too short.. But God gained another angel today RIP," tweeted @AdammCortezz

A candlelight vigil is scheduled for tomorrow night at 3rd Street Park in Vineland.

A moments of silence was held yesterday after students were told of Lowery's death on Monday night when the car he was a passenger in, driven by a newly licensed 17-year-old, hit a parked pick up truck on Almond Road.

Counselors will be available in the Vineland High School library today for students and staff.

6 ABC reports the car was driving at a high rate of speed and the driver may have had too many passengers in his 2004 Chevrolet Malibu. "Left the roadway and struck a parked truck that was parked in a front yard," Vineland Police Chief Timothy Codispoti told the station. No charges have yet been filed. He may have been swerving to avoid hitting a deer according to NBC 10.

"It's incomprehensible. We are grieving again today, it's only been less than two weeks since we lost another student and this beyond our comprehension. It's just a terrible, terrible tragedy," John Sbrana, Executive Director of Communications for Vineland School District, told 6 ABC.

14-year-old Alexa Strittmatter died after being hit by two cars on Main Road crossing the road to get to her bus stop in October. Lowery and Strittmatter rode the same school bus according to NBC 10.
