County officials say they are adding the names of local victims of Sept. 11 to plaques at the Mercer County, N.J., 9/11 memorial.

The plaques had only featured the names of politicians and volunteers but not those of victims.

County officials tell the Times of Trenton that county victims -- there were at least 27 -- will be added to the memorial.

County Executive Brian Hughes, whose name is on one plaque, had said the memorial was meant to pay tribute to the nearly 3,000 victims. He now says the county was wrong.

Washington Township in Warren County removed its 9/11 memorial stone after protests. It listed only the names of elected officials and didn't even mention the events of 9/11.
