NJ Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. says witnesses reported 50-year-old Frank Farriella of Middlesex was leaning in the path of the oncoming train at the New Brunswick station platform when he was struck Tuesday. About 300 people were aboard the New York-bound Northeast Corridor train.

NJ Transit says four other people on the platform were struck by body parts, with one suffering fractured ribs. Another complained of back, head and neck injuries and a third complained of head pain. A fourth person declined medical treatment.

Northeast Corridor service was temporarily suspended following the accident.
