Verizon Wireless service in parts of Central and North Jersey has been fully restored on after an outage Thursday.

"We experienced a service disruption affecting voice and data services in parts of Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset and Morris counties in New Jersey around 5:50 p.m.," spokesman Andrew Testa wrote in an email to New Jersey 101.5. "Service for our customers was restored at 7:10 p.m. EST. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Testa said the exact cause of the disruption remains under investigation.

The outage led South Brunswick Police and the Hunterdon County of Emergency Management to alert residents of the outage on their respective social media platforms for those needing emergency services.
