The crash happened Sunday on Route 17 in Woodbury, 50 miles north of New York City. A 2000 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 33-year-old Jerome Stewart of Newark, N.J., was headed south when it crashed into two cars that were waiting to turn into the Harriman Train Station.

The car then careened into the northbound lane and hit a 2000 Chrysler van driven by 74-year-old Paul Force of Woodland Park, N.J.

Force's 66-year-old wife Sarah died later at a hospital in Suffern.

Stewart and two passengers were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation continues.
