Before Super Bowl 48 takes place on Sunday, there is another big event taking place on Saturday night right down the road from MetLife Stadium. The UFC will be on display for UFC 169 at the Prudential Center in Newark.

One fighter who will not fighting Saturday but is a integral part of the UFC is middleweight champion Chris Weidner. I got a chance to speak with him earlier today. Weidman, a native of Long Island will have some major rooting interest in this weekend's Super Bowl, as he revealed he will be cheering for the Broncos.

The only drawback having the UFC and the Super Bowl in New Jersey for Weidman will be the drive back and forth to Long Island.

Weidman, who is ranked #5 overall in the UFC as of January 17th, says of the distinction "It's pretty cool but I want to be #1."
