EDISON — No charges have been filed against the driver of a U-Haul rental truck that crashed head-on against another car Tuesday, killing a 33-year-old township resident.

Marcus Scroggins was pronounced dead at the scene early Tuesday afternoon. The driver of another vehicle also was injured but denied medical treatment, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

The U-Haul was driving north on Route 27 when it crossed onto oncoming traffic at about 1:47 p.m., authorities said.

The truck sideswiped a 1999 Ford Explorer, injuring that driver, before ramming into Scroggins’ 1997 Pontiac Grand Am.

The Pontiac was shoved about 100 feet before it came to a stop at the Division Street intersection.

Authorities ask anyone with information to contact Edison police at 732-248-7400 or the Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3300.

This fatal crash is the same road where a suicidal 15-year-old boy in 2013 purposefully drove head-on into another car, killing himself and two others in the oncoming vehicle.
