Police are trying to determine what triggered an early-morning fight and shooting at a northern New Jersey restaurant that left two people wounded.

Police say the shooting happened early Tuesday, after a patron was hit in the head by a chair at Casey O'Tooles restaurant in Wayne.

A police officer heard three to four gunshots when he arrived. Investigators found blood and a shell casing in the lot but no victims.

Detective Capt. James Clarke told The Record that Paterson police notified Wayne authorities that two people walked into St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson with gunshot wounds.

Thirty-six-year-old Lashanda Wright of Paterson was shot in her upper right arm and 28-year-old Javon Perry of Paterson was shot in his lower left thigh. Their wounds aren't considered life-threatening.
