Authorities in Trenton are investigating two separate shootings that took place Sunday morning leaving a total of eight people injured, according to published reports.

Trenton Police Lt. Stephen Varn told NJ Advance Media that the two incidents happened in the early morning hours, with the first taking place at about 12:30 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. A total of six people were injured, with one undergoing emergency surgery, the article states.

Less than an hour later, police responded to Spring Street following a drive-by shooting, that injured two more people, NJ Advance media reported. Police do not believe the two incidents are connected, according to the story.
