Two arrested in traffic stops, heroin seized in Union County
ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) — Police say they seized a kilogram of heroin and six pounds of marijuana during two traffic stops in marijuana.
Authorities say police pulled over 26-year-old Alexander Gomez in Elizabeth and found the heroin and two pounds of marijuana in his vehicle on Wednesday night.
Later in the evening, police say they stopped 36-year-old Lonnie Rios and found four pounds of marijuana and more than $11,600 after obtaining a search warrant for his Newark home.
Gomez and Rios are both charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute and other drug offenses. Each is held on $200,000 bail.
