Trump’s son-in-law thought Bridgegate was ‘badass,’ report says

NEW YORK — Donald Trump's son-in-law emailed David Wildstein and told him he thought Bridgegate was "badass," a report says.

The Washington Post reported that Jared Kushner, who owned the political website PolitickerNJ.com when Wildstein wrote a column under the name "Wally Edge," sent the email to Wildstein the day he quit the Port Authority as it became apparent that Wildstein ordered the lane closures on the George Washington Bridge in 2013

“Just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and wishing the best. For what it’s worth, I thought the move you pulled was kind of badass,” Kushner wrote.

A spokeswoman for the Kushner Companies told the newspaper that the message was “poorly worded way of Jared trying to cheer up an old friend.”

According to the story, Gov. Chris Christie thought that the website was being used by the Kushner family to hurt his candidacy for governor in 2009.

“It’s a Kushner-owned enterprise. And I don’t think I’ll be getting Charles Kushner’s family’s vote come November," Christie said, according to the report.

As Attorney General for New Jersey, Christie sent Jared Kushner's father, Charles, to prison in 2005 to serve two years on tax evasion and illegal campaign contributions. It was rumored that he influenced  President-elect Donald Trump to take Christie out of contention for vice president and to remove Christie as head of his transition committee.

Jared told Forbes that he and the governor "decided this election was much bigger than any differences we may have had in the past, and we worked very well together" and denied pushing Christie or his people out.
