A tractor trailer slammed into the toll plaza at the Trenton-Morrisville Route 1 bridge at the start of the Wednesday morning commute, causing delays in both directions.

Joe Donnelly, spokesman for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, told New Jersey 101.5  the truck was inside the EZ Pass lanes to the far left on the southbound side in Morrisville, and those lanes were closed early Wednesda  y. Donnelly said a metal wall that acts as a divider between lanes outside the plaza was damaged and a camera may have been damaged. A full assement will have to be completed to determine other damage to the toll plaza.

Helicopter footage showed the truck stuck on top of the jersey barrier that divides toll lanes. and a tow truck was on scene. Donnelly said the the Commission hoped to have the truck removed after 9 a.m and that at least one of the damaged lanes would be open for the afternoon commute.

Traffic was slow approaching the toll plaza from both directions.   No toll is paid heading north toward Trenton.

Donnelly said the driver nor anyone at the toll plaza was injured. The EZ Pass lanes are not usually manned, but can be converted to accept cash if necessary.
