An early morning crash snarled the morning commute on Route 287 on Friday.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Flynn said a ShopRite tractor trailer and an Isuzu van collided on the southbound side between exit 5 for Stelton Road and exit 5 for Durham Ave in Piscataway around 3:45 a.m.  Another tractor trailer was brought in to offload the contents of the ShopRite truck.

The clean up of the crash created a multi-mile delay approaching the crash scene from both directions, according to New Jersey Fast Traffic's Bob Williams. "With the delays of over 4 miles, drivers may want to use Route 22 to Rock Avenue or Washington Avenue and connect with 287 south of exit 5," Williams suggested.

Flynn said one of the drivers was hospitalized for an arm injury.
