A truck accident is snarling traffic at the inbound George Washington Bridge.

Several lanes were blocked off on the inbound side of the bridge's upper deck following the crash that occurred just before 11 a.m. Monday.

A spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the bridge, says the truck carrying steel beams struck a toll booth and lost part of its load. The toll booth suffered significant damage.

Five lanes were initially closed to traffic, but one lane has since been reopened.

Delays on the inbound upper side of the bridge were ranging from 30 minutes up to an hour. And it wasn't clear whether the lanes would be reopened for the evening commute.
