Trooper shoots, wounds 14-year-old boy on Trenton street
TRENTON (AP) — State police say a trooper shot and wounded a 14-year-old boy who authorities believe was firing gunshots on a Trenton street.
The teen was shot in the lower extremities and hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. His name has not been disclosed.
Police said Sunday the shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Friday on Calhoun Street as troopers and officers with the Mercer County Sheriff's Office investigated reports of gunfire in the area. Authorities say the trooper shot the teen after a brief foot chase, but further details were not disclosed.
Authorities say a weapon was recovered at the scene.
It's not clear if the teen will face charges.
The Attorney General's Office will review the incident, which is standard procedure when a trooper fires a weapon.
