We talked about how New Jersey schools handle Halloween celebrations and we talked about New Jersey’s burgeoning bear problem this week. Can you imagine living in a town where door to door trick or treating has been canceled because of the abundance of polar bears?

That’s the case in Canada; a town called Arviat in the province of Nunavut, has called off outdoors Halloween and will move everything indoors because polar bears have been coming into town more frequently and the town doesn’t want 1,200 children acting as bait. In case you didn’t know, polar bears are carnivorous and males weigh between 750-1500 pounds. Nunavut is the northernmost Canadian province.
