Off the top of your head, could you guess which five state capitals rank worse than Trenton? I know I couldn't, but I'm biased. I've spent a lot of time in and around Trenton. Our state capital is economically depressed, politically corrupt and has a violent crime rate that is over 300% higher than the New Jersey average and over 200% higher than the national average. The largest employer in Trenton? The state of New Jersey. So much for "Trenton makes, the world takes," the can't miss slogan plastered on the Lower Trenton Bridge.

This week, WalletHub published a ranking of every state capital from best to worst. The best is none other than Austin, TX. The worst state capital is Hartford, CT.

Here are the ten worst state capitals:
41. Boston, MA
42. Baton Rouge, LA
43. Dover, DE
44. Honolulu, HI
45. Trenton, NJ
46. Providence, RI
47. Jackson, MS
48. Montgomery, AL
49. Carson City, NV
50. Hartford, CT

WalletHub based these rankings on four factors: Affordability, economic well-being, education and health, and quality of life. Out of all 50 state capitals, Trenton ranks 43rd in affordability, 22nd in education and health, 33rd in quality of life, and dead last in economic well-being.
