Tony Mack cut the ribbon on a new city learning center in a former library building on Monday, making his first public appearance in nearly two weeks.

Earlier this month, the FBI searched City Hall and the homes of Mack, his brother and a campaign donor. Documents show investigators are seeking evidence of fraud, extortion and money laundering.

Soon after the searches, Mack vanished from City Hall, later explaining that he was on vacation. He was back on duty Monday, but not shedding much light on the situation.

He would not specify what the FBI is asking, whether he has hired or lawyer or if he has been told he could face charges.
