A Gloucester County man with a physical disability has died in what’s being called a tragic accident.

The 45 year-old Monroe Township resident, who was physically impaired from cerebral palsy, drowned in his family’s in-ground swimming pool last night.

Family members say he was in the pool exercising a weakened leg after a doctor had recommended exercise in water to strengthen his muscles.

The man was pulled him from bottom of the pool by family members and given CPR in an unsuccessful attempt to revive him. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short while later.

Family members told authorities they had only left the man alone for a minute or two. A preliminary investigation by the Monroe Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office has concluded the drowning was accidental.
