Tragic Ending For Paige Aiello [POLL/AUDIO]

The body of a missing College of New Jersey student, who dropped out of sight a month ago, has been positively identified.

The New York City Medical Examiner confirms the decomposed body found near the George Washington Bridge in the Hudson River has been identified as that of missing student Paige Aiello, and the official cause of death is drowning by suicide.

TCNJ students expressed sadness and anguish, but not shock.

"I feel like it speaks to the pressure that is put on college students, especially at such an academic campus," said one young woman in the TCNJ campus. "There's a lot of pressure to just be better than you are, to achieve the highest that you can - and that just puts a lot of stress on students,"

She also said she hopes the tragedy will be a wake-up call to the administration and students to just chill, take a break sometimes, and not put some much pressure each other.

"It's an opportunity for us to realize there are people hurting, there are people going through things, and to develop communities that are sensitive to people who are hurting," another student said.

A student sitting nearby said TCNJ is a very competitive school, but it's disheartening to hear that the pressure got to Aiello -hopefully her family can just stay strong and get through the sadness of it."

"I really don't know how to describe it, I feel like it's a loss for her family and all of her friends because it was something that was so unexpected from somebody had so much potential for the future," another young woman said. "I know that myself - I put a lot of pressure on myself to make sure I do really well in school - get good grades, so I can get into a good graduate school. So I could see how that kind of pressure could harm someone."

The Aiello family posted a message on Facebook after the news broke.

"It is with a heavy heart that we report to you that the body recovered yesterday is that of Paige. We want to thank each and every one of you for never giving up hope and continuing to help try and find Paige. At this time, we ask for your continued prayers and support for Paige's family, friends and community during this most difficult time. Thank you."
