Tracy Morgan took a big step in his recovery from a serious accident on the New Jersey Turnpike as he married his longtime fiancee Sunday night.People magazine reports Morgan and Megan Wollover became man and wife in what the magazine described as an "emotional ceremony" in Cresskill, a milestone that proved to be a major motivation in his recovery.

"I don't want to walk my wife down the aisle with a cane or in a wheelchair," Morgan told People. "So I had to go hard with the therapy. … I had to get better. There was no ifs, ands or buts about it."

A guest at the wedding told E! News,  "It was a mellow scene. … There were a few toasts but nothing crazy. (It was) more of a family get-together." The couple's 2-year-old daughter, Maven, was also at the wedding.

Morgan was previously married for 23 years to Sabina Morgan; the couple has 3 sons and divorced in 2009 after Tracy Morgan's trouble with alcohol.

Morgan was returning to his North Jersey home from a performance in Delaware when his limousine bus was hit by a tractor trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike in June, 2014. His friend James McNair was killed in the accident and Morgan faced a long recovery from injuries that included broken ribs and a broken leg. Morgan has no recollection of the accident.

Another major event in Morgan's recovery was announced last week in being named to host Saturday Night Live on October 17.
