One of the reasons I started Blue Friday was to highlight the good deeds that our local police officers are doing that don't necessarily get reported by the media. We need to change the narrative and show that there are far more good stories than bad that our officers do for New Jersey every day.

This weekend is a great example of one of those stories in Seaside Heights.

During the 2017 Jersey Shore Festival, members of the Toms River Police Department will be taking on NFL players in the Pros vs. Heroes game. The game will be part of the annual flag football game vs NFL pros! The game takes place on the Pine Belt Field, just south of Casino Pier in Seaside Heights.

The game will take place at 3:30 on Saturday May 20, with a rain date of Sunday May 21, the game is being presented by the Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation. The proceeds will benefit the Toms River Police Foundation. Bring the kids as there will be plenty of fun things for them to do prior to the game, including an NFL Play60 clinic and a beach cheer clinic, both taking place from 2-3pm.

These type of events are what make our local officers so vital to our communities. They're not only out there working and keeping us safe, but they're also fixtures to the residents, like the Toms River Police officers, who are out helping raise money for important local causes.
