A piece of blue debris from the scene of a fatal hit and run accident on Route 37 in Toms River earlier this month has been matched to a two door Jeep, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

27-year-old Jeffrey Michel of Colts Neck was killed on March 6, shortly before 8:30 p.m., while walking on Route 37 West near Fischer Boulevard.

Debris from the scene was matched to the bottom right corner of a two-door Jeep Wrangler front grille passenger's side where the fender meets the grille, according to Prosecutor's Office Spokesman Al Della Fave.

The blue color was used on 2013, 2014, or 2015 Jeep Wranglers. The part number is 68046306AB.  The photo to the right depicts a blue Jeep Wrangler and the photo below contains the  actual vehicle part and depicts where the piece actually fits on the vehicle.

Michel had been involved in an incident with Brookdale Community College police when he posted a video of his arrest and claimed police brutality. An investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office cleared the officers of the allegation according to NJ.com.
