Authorities say a toddler has been found home alone in smoke-filled apartment in northern New Jersey.

But it doesn't appear that the 2-year-old girl suffered any injuries.

Roselle Park Police Chief Paul Morrison tells The Star-Ledger that authorities were called to the apartment around 10 a.m. Tuesday by a social worker who smelled smoke inside the unit in the Woodside Gardens complex. Morrison said the social worker was making a "routine visit" to the apartment.

Morrison said it appeared that the toddler was left alone earlier in the morning. But he wouldn't say who the child lived with, saying only that authorities were looking for the girl's family members so they could care for her.

Morrison also didn't say what might have caused the smoky conditions inside the apartment.
