Toddler dies after being found unconscious in NYC restaurant

NEW YORK (AP) -- Police say a woman found in a New York City restaurant bathroom with her unconscious 1-year-old son has been arrested on a murder charge.

Authorities say 35-year-old Latisha Fisher faces a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Gavriel Ortiz-Fisher.

Police say a worker at the 5 Boro Burger in midtown Manhattan became concerned Monday afternoon after noticing that the woman and child were in the bathroom for an unusual amount of time.

The worker entered the bathroom, saw the boy unconscious on the woman's lap and called 911.

Police say the boy was in cardiac arrest. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

It wasn't immediately clear if Fisher has a lawyer.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
