Those of us who've worked in the service industry understand the joys of receiving a good tip. But even if you never worked a job where gratuities are expected, chances are you recognize several circumstances where you should tip someone. The server at a sit-down restaurant or the pizza delivery guy, for example, are no-brainers.

Lately, however, it seems that tipping practices are being redefined, leaving many of us confused about when it's socially "correct" to tip, or rude to withhold extra cash.

You've no doubt seen a tip jar like the one above, located at a Smoothie King drive-in window in Hunterdon County. It's a clever effort at gaining some extra dough, but is this type of overture justified? Do people at drive-through windows, or those working in similar positions, deserve to be tipped? Or can a tip jar be a way of begging for unwarranted cash?
