What's worse than putting up the Christmas lights? Answer: taking them down. At least when they're going up, you have a goal and system in mind. When they're coming down, it's just a big mess and nothing to look forward to.

Several homeowners on my block must have the same opinion because there are quite a few homes that are still lit at night.

The "Twelve Days of Christmas" ended last week, which is when my family usually shuts down the power outside, removes all the decorations inside, and throws the tree to the curb. Not this time around, though; everyone is too lazy.

We should all just keep the lights up year-round. Christmas in July is a real thing.
