Tim Tebow Shows his ‘Jersey’ Side
Tim Tebow never had an unkind word to say about another person in his life. Then he moved to New Jersey.
After an improbable playoff run with the Denver Broncos, Tebow's back-up Brady Quinn had some unflattering words for the former Florida Gator.
In the February issue of GQ Magazine, Quinn spoke disparagingly about Tebow, claiming his sideline prayers were done for attention and calling into question Tebow's passing ability.
At the time, Tebow remained mum about Quinn's criticisms, but in a very uncharacteristic move, he recently struck back at Quinn, a former starting quarterback at Notre Dame.
"I had a teammate at Denver who played the same position as me and he went to the University of Notre Dame. He would brag about his university, how great it was. Most of us in the locker room were like, 'C'mon, we all had opportunities. We chose not to go there.' ... But he talked so much about his university that it became easy. I'd say, 'Your whole team had one guy who ran under a 5.0 40 [yard dash]. Our kicker ran under 5.0.'"
So what changed?
Back when Quinn first spoke to GQ, Tebow was still in Denver and was presumably still the Broncos' starting quarterback. That didn't last long, as the Broncos signed Peyton Manning, who has more ability in his fused neck vertebrae than Quinn and Tebow have in their entire bodies combined.
Quinn was shipped off to Kansas City to back up injury-prone Chiefs starter Matt Cassel and, inexplicably, Tebow was picked up by the New York Jets, despite the team's recent re-signing of presumed starting quarterback Mark Sanchez.
He's been in New Jersey for a few months now and it's possible that the Garden State's in-your-face attitude might be having an affect on the normally pious Tebow.
What's next? Partying with The Situation? Getting into a fight on the Seaside Heights boardwalk? Spray tanning? Only time will tell.
